My name is Dr. Michael Nava, and I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in the city of Long Beach, California. In my work as a psychotherapist, I help my clients process, explore, and understand their life-long experiences and current beliefs about themselves and their environment. I help my clients find their focus, maintain stability, and stay conscious of their lives.
It is my experience that presence in a therapeutic-working relationship allows my clients to heal. Emotional sanctuary and client-centered therapy are essential to establishing trust. Thus, developing a healthy and supportive environment for my clients to awaken their unconscious level and develop insight about themselves, their relationships with friends, family, and significant others. I help my clients find resolution and peace with their struggles, assisting them in removing barriers to their happiness and success as they characterize it.
The psychotherapeutic process may result in feelings of discomfort before feeling better as is the case with unresolved trauma or painful memories. However, with support and developing an awareness of such emotions, clients become more tolerant and develop a capacity to enjoy life, establish healthy love, and a sense of self.
